GapMaps may be a digital platform, but it’s made possible by a talented team who love working with clients and finding solutions. The Powered by People series will introduce you to them, one by one.
Maggie is a new addition to GapMaps’ Melbourne office, having recently been appointed as Business Account Manager. She’s passionate about building relationships, loves variety and reckons Tinkerbell is someone to look up to.
You’re a new face at GapMaps – what was your first impression of the company?
My first impressions are very positive. The team are passionate, hard-working and friendly, while the platform is easy to use and a valuable tool for our clients.
What’s your role, and what are you most looking forward to?
I have started as the Business Account Manager. My role is to build and maintain positive working relationships with our clients and help them get the best possible value from GapMaps. I am looking forward to getting to know our clients and working closely with them to understand their business objectives and provide them with the support required.
You have previously worked at Disney… who is your favourite character and why?
Tinkerbell is easily my favourite character. She is spunky, rebellious, hard-working but so friendly and lovable at the same time. Two of my favourite quotes of hers are:
“All you need is some faith, trust and a little pixie dust” and
“What if I fail? Oh my darling, but what if you fly?”
How do you see GapMaps’ mission to ‘make data meaningful’ playing out for clients?
We provide easy-to-use yet really powerful tools, as well as dedicated support to make sense of the data presented. We help make the data meaningful to each of our clients – regardless of whether they are looking for growth opportunities, new markets or simply want to better understand their network or market.
What are the first three things you do when you get up in the morning?
Put on my glasses as I cannot see without them, put the kettle on and give my children a good morning hug. They know mummy doesn’t operate very well before having a cup of tea!
What’s one book you recommend everyone should read?
‘Start with Why’ by Simon Sinek. Whilst its predominantly aimed at business, I believe it applies to life in general – ‘when we start with WHY in everything that we do, we inspire action’.
What do you enjoy most about your job – what gets you out of bed every morning?
I love working with people, building relationships and providing support. The variety in my role gets me out of bed – I don’t know what the day will hold given the range of clients and the various sectors we work with, and that’s exciting.
