Key Location Insights into India’s QSR and Fast Food Industry
From analysing India’s leading 13 fast food and QSR brands, we have found that they have close to 6,000 site locations.
• Of these tracked brands, Domino’s holds the largest store network, with over 1,500 locations. Domino’s has (at least) one store in (almost) all of the 86 cities with a population exceeding 10 lakhs. Additionally, they boast a substantial presence in the 211 cities with over 5 lakh residents.
• Pizza Hut has the second-largest store network in India across the tracked brands with 787 locations across the country. Other tracked brands Wow! Momo and McDonald’s also maintain sizable store networks, each with over 500 locations.
• However, except for Domino’s, the tracked brands don’t have established store networks in Tier 2 cities, which encompass cities with populations ranging from 5 lakh to 10 lakh residents.
• In cities with less than 5 lakh residents, the store networks of the tracked brands are relatively limited. Typically, these smaller cities only have stores present if there is an additional significant driver of sales beyond the local residents, such as a large shopping mall, major passing highway, a tourist precinct, or a satellite/commuter city.
