Key Location Insights into Indonesia’s QSR and Fast Food Industry
From analysing 12 of Indonesia’s leading fast food and QSR brands, we have found that they have close to 3,300 site locations.
• Of the tracked brands, KFC boasts the most extensive store network, spanning over 700 locations. This includes at least one store in 52 out of the 62 cities with populations exceeding 500,000. Additionally, KFC has a significant store network across the 195 cities, each with a population of over 200,000 residents.
• Pizza Hut has the second largest store network with 616 locations. Other noteworthy fast food chains such as McDonald’s, A&W, California Fried Chicken and Domino’s also have sizeable store networks each with over 200 locations.
• However, it’s important to note that, apart from KFC and Pizza Hut, the tracked QSR and fast food brands don’t have established store networks in Tier 3 cities, which are characterized by populations ranging from 200,000 to 500,000 residents.
• In cities with fewer than 200,000 residents, the presence of these tracked fast food brands is relatively limited. Typically, these smaller cities only have stores present if there is an additional significant driver of sales beyond the local residents, such as a major passing highway, a tourist precinct, or a satellite/commuter city.
