Key Location Insights into Indonesia’s Café Industry
After analysing the latest datasets in GapMaps Live, we have discovered that the 12 brands operate close to 3,800 locations across Indonesia.
- Of these tracked brands, Kopi Janji Jiwa has the largest store network with over 900 locations. This includes at least one store in 55 of the 62 cities with over 500,000 residents, as well as a sizable store network across the 195 cities with over 200,000 residents.
- Kopi Kenangan Hut has the second-largest store network with 868 locations. Starbucks, Chatime, Jco and Kedai Kopi Kulo also have sizeable store networks each with over 250 locations.
- With the exception of Kopi Janji Jiwa, the assessed brands only have limited networks across Tier 3 cities (cities with 200-500,000 residents).
- In cities with less than 200,000 residents, store networks for the assessed brands are limited. Typically these smaller cities only have stores where there is another key driver of sales outside of the local residents (e.g. a major passing highway, a tourist precinct, or a satellite/commuter city).
