Analysis of the most recent data within GapMaps Live, shows the 13 brands tracked operate over 2,300 Cafe locations across Malaysia.
• Starbucks and Secret Recipe have the largest networks for Café’s in Malaysia, with over 360 stores. McCafe is very close behind with 340 locations. The rest of the brands tracked operate between 50 and 250 locations.
• The Greater Kuala Lumpur area emerges as a major hub, surpassing Johor and Penang by nearly 1000 additional outlets. The Malaysian capital and its surroundings offer a wide range of cafe’s for residents and tourists alike.
• Penetration into smaller tiers was lower for Café brands than seen across QSR, but Secret Recipe was still present in 86% of cities over 50,000 residents. The Cafe culture offers something for everyone from bustling urban centers to more remote areas.
